Expertise at the Speed of Need: neuRealities at Mayo Clinic's Nursing Nexus
Healthcare has an expert-access crisis. The knowledge people need already exists inside the institution, but the expert who holds it can't be everywhere at once. That's the problem neuRealities AI Experts are built to solve, and it's the experience we brought to Mayo Clinic's Nursing Nexus.
Connecting Staff Voices to Transform Healthcare
Nursing Nexus is Mayo Clinic's third annual gathering built around a simple idea: the people delivering care every day should help shape how it evolves. This year's event brought together Department of Nursing staff, in both clinical and non-clinical roles, alongside a lineup of internal and external keynote speakers, leaders, and exhibitors. neuRealities was proud to take part in the Interactive Innovation Fair, giving nursing staff hands-on time with three AI Experts we're building in collaboration with Mayo Clinic teams.

Not a Chatbot. A Trusted AI Expert.
Before attendees even got to the demos, our booth conversations kept coming back to the same distinction: an AI Expert isn't a general-purpose chatbot. It's built differently on three principles:
It shows its work. Every answer is grounded in content the institution owns and approves, traceable to the exact paragraph in a document or moment in a video. If the AI Expert doesn't know something, it says so.
It's built with Mayo Clinic experts. Each AI Expert is developed alongside the clinicians whose knowledge it carries. They curate the content, test the responses, and validate the answers before anything reaches learners or patients.
It scales expert knowledge. One expert can't be in every room at once. An AI Expert brings that person's knowledge into the rooms they can't reach, without adding anything to the clinician's day.
Three AI Experts, Live at Our Booth
We showed attendees three different AI Experts and how they can meet people at the moment they need expertise most.
Clinical Anatomy: A Teacher and Reference
The Clinical Anatomy AI Expert provides trusted, procedure-specific anatomy guidance, providing answers that are grounded in Mayo Clinic dissections recorded for each procedure.
Breast Cancer Patient Education: A Companion Between Visits
This AI Expert is designed for patients and explains what to expect during the care journey in plain language drawing on trusted Mayo Clinic expertise. It can field clinical questions about what to expect from chemotherapy treatment and practical ones about parking, lodging, and what to bring, all while maintaining strict guardrails to protect patient privacy.
Human Optimization: A Personal Coach
Grounded in the Mayo Clinic on Human Optimization podcast library, this AI Expert offers guidance on a variety of topics, including sleep, movement, nutrition, resilience, and leadership, sharing relevant and personalized recommendations for reaching optimal wellness based on a user’s questions.

Why It Matters
Nursing Nexus exists to elevate staff voices and build shared ownership of what comes next in care delivery. For neuRealities, that made it exactly the right room to be in. The best cases for an AI Expert usually start with a question someone gets asked constantly, or an explanation they've repeated more times than they can count, and nursing staff have no shortage of both. Conversations at our booth surfaced real opportunities for where an AI Expert could make a difference in day-to-day practice and reinforced what we already knew from our work with Mayo Clinic: the best AI in healthcare is built with the clinicians it represents, not around them.
