Senior Software Engineer

Focus: Core Engineering, Open Standards, API Development  
Type: Full-time | Location: Remote (US - East Coast) 

Overview 

neuRealities is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the core technologies and systems behind our spatial experiences. This role focuses on building scalable, data‑driven architectures with long‑term extensibility and performance in mind. A key responsibility is to leverage existing standards while also contributing to the creation of new open standards that advance our industry. The role also includes developing and maintaining a robust SDK that enables teams and partners to build on top of our platform effectively. Close collaboration with engineering, application, and design teams will ensure delivery of standards‑driven solutions that strengthen and expand our platform. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Leverage established industry standards (e.g., those from W3C, IEEE) and contribute to the development of new open standards 

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in modern languages (C#, C++, JavaScript, WebAssembly WIT/WAT, or similar)

  • Apply data‑driven design patterns (e.g., MVVM, Canonical Data Modeling) and established engineering principles (e.g., SOLID, GoF)

  • Collaborate closely with Application, Design, and Backend teams to establish new and improved product workflows 

  • Build and maintain automated test suites to validate reliability, performance, and scalability. 

What a Strong Candidate Looks Like 

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in applying and extending architectural and design patterns

  • Proven ability to leverage existing standards and contribute to the development of new open standards

  • Familiarity with Unity, Node, and native JavaScript in modern browsers 

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies

  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across engineering, application, and design teams. 

Nice to Have 

  • Familiarity with standards development processes (e.g., W3C Working Groups, IEEE committees) 

  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)

  • Knowledge of 3D and graphics programming (e.g., WebGL, Three.js, Unity)

  • Understanding of performance profiling and optimization for real-time applications

  • Contributions to open-source projects or published standards proposals.
